The claim that the entire people is striving for independence is, at best, hard to prove, as no polls of all Shan are cited and even support in polls doesn't necessarily translate into actual participation in a movement. And arguably, since no people is a monolith acting with a single purpose, this type of claim is always somewhat inaccurate and biased in favour of the cause in question. undo

I also know from personally working and living among the Shan for the last 12 years this is false. undo
